WILL AND INSTINCT
Out of God—
out of the Imagination
Will and Instinct arrive.
Will is the male,
who is opposite of
Instinct, who is the female.
Will is a simple tool: Work—Food...
Play—Sex...
Instinct is a simple tool:
Work—Food...
Play—Sex...
The Imagination created
the Will and the Instinct.
(Both Will and Instinct live inside the stomach, and they give birth to the Images—which live everywhere inside us.
Remember, the Images are Memories and Dreams, and they do live everywhere inside us.)
Begin with God, or the Great Spirit. Begin with the Light—or the Pulse—or the Imagination...whatever thought makes it easier for you to comprehend.
I prefer the Imagination, as it is a relatively simple concept. It is also the most human of the concepts.
Out of the Imagination the Drive is created—for, let's face it, without drive, we get nowhere.
The Drive is the Force—or the Pulse. It has a powerful desire to experience Motion, and needs to move.
So it moves.
The Drive has two sides:
Will—the free one—who gets to Choose...
and Instinct—the automatic one—who has no choices...
As these two forces work together, a lifeform is created. The Life drives itself, while being driven. Will and Instinct are the couple that bring the Life to birth—whether it is a physical birth or a spiritual birth.
This Life is now in a position to live—which always means the creation of Memories and Dreams.
Your Memories and Dreams
are
the Images that drive you
on your self-created stage—
in the theatre of your life.
So now we have an Imagination full of Images—our dreams to motivate survival, and our memories to assist survival—and we bring ourselves back to the beginning.
We come back into the Imagination and its amazing ability—to create countless settings, props, views, costumes, and disguises.
It is your Will and your Instinct that has the power to manipulate the stage where your theatrics are being played.
Will has the power... to alter the Images, to alter the Dreams, and to alter the Memories—
for Will is the force of Change.
If Will is the force of Change,
then Instinct is the force of Understanding.
Instinct has the power... to understand the Images, to understand the Memories, and to understand the Dreams... and to stop Will from faking it—stop Will from ignoring his innate desires—for too many of us choose to
Will the truth into disguise.
(However, if Will has to fake it to gain Strength, then fake it—do not hesitate to pretend to be strong, if it is strength you are looking for... no hovering in a corner, please...as reality, eventually, imitates focus.)
If our society was in tune with Nature—if howling at the full moon or dancing under the stars was acceptable—our Instinct would be alive and balanced.
Since our society is not in tune with the land and the sky, our Instinct is confused and lost.
Instead of doing what it intuitively desires—living in tune with Nature, barefoot—Instinct does the next best thing. She craves pleasure, which puts incredible stress on Will.
Instinct and Will should work together, striving to create Memories and Dreams, to have something to live for.
Think of the husband—he, who is a driver.
Think of the wife—she, who is also a driver.
Instinct—the female driver—knows she needs work-food... play-sex...
Will—the male driver—hopefully, listens to the female driver, then ventures out to work-food...play-sex...allowing Instinct to be at the wheel.
Because of Instinct's amazing influence over our lives—her intuition is true—she is very necessary. But she is also wild, and can be dangerous. Therefore, it is paramount that Will has stability and stamina—in order to steady her wildness.
(Think of the insatiable Driver who burns up the Car with recklessness. Because of Instinct's tendency to blindly run amok, Will has to know when to put on the brakes. The Car has to be thinking.)
To have Will over Instinct is very tricky, for Will—remember they are like a husband and wife team—for Will, in order to have composure over Instinct's impulses and desires, must do so without suffocating her emotions or libido.
Will must be firm without stifling Instinct.
Getting Instinct to relax while allowing her to be active, is an ongoing challenge for Will. He loves sharp Instinct, and communicates with her every day. But if he is too controlling, she fights back—and then problems arise.
Like a woman, Instinct is not easy to understand.
On the one hand, she is very commanding—Instinct commands the activity of Work—to bring home the Food.
Yet on the other hand, she is very alluring—as she allures the activity of Play to bring home the Sex, and invite the birth of the playful, little children.
The couple sometimes has conflicts —husband and wife, battling—but as Instinct and Will mature, they become completely equal, and respectful of one another. Sometimes Instinct should be in the lead, and sometimes Will should be in the lead.
But as with all… things… human…
Will is mandatory.
If you practice the eleven exorcises every day at least once, you will connect to your Will.
Not your Attitude and not your Ego.
Attitudes and Egos are showy and a waste of energy. They have nothing to do with Will Power.
Will Power comes from within, and it's as deep as Instinct. It is never showy—it is a place of sincere effort, and much... too... focused... to be a performance for the eyes of others.
Bringing the light into your head… into your heart... and into your stomach... that is our mission.
Because you are, most likely, sitting in a chair, activating your Instinct at this time would be difficult—that can only be done outdoors, away from people and pavement.
You will have to activate your Instinct on your own time by going into the country, the land, the wilderness, the meadows, the dirt, the trails, the rivers, the lakes and oceans, the air, the cliffs—any place where there are no Motors, for Motors destroy your inner light, which then blinds the Instinct.
So let's explore the Will.
Here is a small challenge for you:
With your index finger, draw a cross in front of you—and make your lines long.
As you move your finger—the tip should be facing you—watch it. Watch your finger as it slowly—makes a slow, wide cross, and outlines crosses in front of your body.
Follow the wide Cross your finger makes with your eyes—your sockets are going to have a little exorcise.
Move slowly and gently—your finger tip is in no hurry to draw, in repetition, this Cross.
Your eyes are going to get a little work out. See how long you can focus on the monotony—or the mantra—created by your finger strokes.
As your finger crosses the 't', stop in the center and get your eyes focused on the intersection. Then begin again.
To the Right—to the Left—to the Center.
To the Ceiling—to the Floor—to the Center.
Do not move your head. Force, softly, your eyes to follow.
Repeat—as many times as you can—and Will yourself to continue.
This is a Practice, not a hammer coming down on you with a Hard Day's Challenge—where if you stop you could die.
We all have Will Power—during the hammering times of powerful challenges.
But on this website, there is no powerful challenge—there is only this moment.
There is no one—or thing—forcing urgency into your life. No one is forcing you to Focus... just you...
and your Will.
You can do it! Remember to use your Nose—your brilliant proboscis.
Sniff the air like the animals do...
for the animals know what they are doing.
Picture a strong Will.
sniff the air…
and breathe life into your vision.
When we are born, God—or the Pulse—breathes Oxygen into our lungs. We do not make our lungs work, God does—or the Oxygen does.
So it is safe to say that God—and the Oxygen— are One. The air we breathe is God, so the more we pay attention to our breathing—the closer we are to God.
Breathing is a Practice.
Keep doing it, and watch the players in your Imagination’s theatre start arriving to help you. (and doo be patient.)
Peace.
