REACTION
Cause and Effect. That is what happens, inadvertently, day in and day out. The light turns red…we stop. The phone rings…we answer it—or maybe we ignore it. A stranger frowns…we pull back. A person sneezes…we say, “Bless you.”
Another person rushes...we internally panic.
What an unmoving world we would live in, if Cause did not arouse Effect—if Cause did not incite Effect. Imagine a world so calm that nothing incites, and nothing reacts. Imagine no questions, no answers, no explanations, no defenses, and no pressures. Sound like a dream, eh?
But the thought of No Motion makes most people nervous, almost as if Inertia suffocates.
Therefore, in a world where everything is unaffected—where no one triggers another, and Action does not get Reaction—the effect might be a fine-line between Serenity, and Deadness.
To most humans it would probably be boring—not enough stimulus to charge their anxious spirits. But for those who crave peace, the lack of Reaction would be relaxing.
It’s not that Reaction itself is a problem. It’s the timing of the Reaction that makes life so frickin’ stressful.
The instant you start to settle down and ease your soul and body into a comfortable place, an unexpected visual—or sound, or who-knows-what, an Action somewhere immediately in front of you, or next to you, or over you, or under you, or inside you—flutters the edges of your aura, slams into your space.
So…what do you do? You react.
What if we could all learn to be so laid back, so kick-back, that we completely stop reacting?
What if every time an offensive, loud noise blasted the background, we didn’t cringe?
What if every time, a sudden, abrupt person flung their arms out next to us—practically knocking us over, reaching for an anxious pint (or two) of Haagen-Dazs, as we stand in front of the ice cream section—we didn’t jump inside our skin, and give the fool a glare?
Imagine having no reaction—in fact, the concept is so serene it no longer deserves to be capitalized. Every single thing you encounter, you could take or leave. In this extremely confident state, you would be very Calm. In your Calm, you would understand the power of Trust and Respect.
Therefore, as you glide through life unaffected, you would have more energy and patience for the “little people”—the clueless, the thoughtless, the children, the animals.
Reaction is so automatic it blinds us. We cannot see our own faces and gestures—or see our body’s language—when we are caught in the inevitable results of Cause and Effect.
Its’ not our fault, of course, to be so effected by Unconscious Reaction. Cause and Effect—Action and Reaction—is one of the universe’s Many Tools, and it should never be overused. Problem is that’s exactly what we are doing.
We are overusing the Reaction Tool.
Rein it in, folks! You got more control over that horse than you allow! Pull back just enough to alleviate all stress. If someone next to you, or under you, or over you is Pure Anxiety, laugh at them.
Not rudely, for they are children in adult bodies.
Simply allow them to be your Entertainment and Learning Experience. They are everything you are learning not to be, so stop reacting to their idiocy, and they will respect you for it.
Save Reaction for emergencies and love.
