MISFITS
Do you really think the Misfits, the ordinary ones in society who run the system—cashiers at the 7-11, the mechanics, the maids, the fry cooks, the parking lot attendants, the dish washers, the waitresses, the Wal-Mart employees, the caregivers, and the baby-sitters—have no brains?
Because they are gentler, less aggressive people—who do not have an over-whelming need to rule or have riches—you think they are stupid?
You think you can walk over the top of them, and run them into the ground, for the simple reason that their goals went no further than checking the want ads for a minimum wage job, where they will work the rest of their lives?
Because they choose NOT to make a mark in their lifetimes—NOT to make a scene or say what they are really thinking—you’ve concluded they are worthless?
The intelligence, or worthiness, of a person should not be confused with his “goals”, which were forced upon him by a society that no longer remembers what it means to be self-sufficient, or what it means to be connected to the Garden.
To take care of oneself—to remain comfortable in one’s own skin, to be open to love and criticism alike, and to do what one has to do without hurting others—is ancient intelligence that not all of us are born with.
For those who are capable of caring for themselves—without leaning on others, without exploiting others, without pretending and posing for others—those who understand their limitations and do not allow their limitations to scare them, or stifle them, or madden them—those who realize the world is not a toy store for gaining and coveting excess possessions—those are truly the intelligent ones, the humble ones.
Do you remember? The meek shall inherit the earth.
Thank you, Sun
